2016 Theme: Storage For the Next 5,000 Years---

The 15th anniversary of the annual Storage Visions Conference

The Future of Storage

In the early civilizations that dawned in the Nile Valley, Mesopotamia, the Indus Valley and ancient China; information was a crucial element in survival.   These societies created a way to store information for the future by writing.  Writing was one of the earliest methods to store information.  Today digital data is how we store our information.  Digital technology has enabled us to create new ways to store and understand information.  It has also created lower cost methods of finding out new information, organizing and analyzing that information and doing useful things with thatinformation.  The storage and access of information is a key element in big data analytics, the Internet of Things and the creation of modern immersive entertainment.  The theme for the 2016 Storage Visions Conference (our 15th anniversary) recognizes the importance of information storage in the creation of modern civilization and looks at how this important technology will develop in the future to create the next evolution in the history of humans.  Let us seek to create Storage for the Next 5,000 Years! ---Tom Coughlin
